Dr. Joyce Yvonne Parker, was a Prophet and Anointed Woman of God. Throughout her anointed life, she led many individuals and families to Christ and guided others on how to live Spirit Filled Lives.
Dr. Joyce Yvonne Parker was born on November 23, 1952 to the late Alfred and Mamie Washington, of West Point, Virginia.
She received her formative education from Beverly Allen Elementary before being transferred to West Point High School under the Desegregation Act. Later, she attended Rappahannock Community College and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Degree in Special Education. Immediately upon graduation, she attended to University of the College of William and Mary where she received State Certification as a Child Development Specialist. Yvonne was a true educator and most of her life was spent teaching and learning. It was always her goal to obtain her Doctoral Degree. She pursued this degree by gaining her Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Bowie State University and then attending Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where she received a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership.
She accepted Jesus Christ at the age of 9 and never looked back. Even though she did not always exemplify the ways of God, she always held Him dear in her heart. Her call to the ministry came at a very young age. She sung in the choir, ushered, taught Sunday School, served on committees, and even preached during youth services. She served faithfully at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church before moving to Maryland with her husband. They then attended Park View Baptist Church and Jericho City of Praise.
In 1974, she met the love of her life Kenneth A. Parker and they were joined in holy matrimony of January 29, 1977. Out of their union came two beautiful daughters Kimberly Nichele, and Kendra Ann. She was blessed to have one granddaughter, Mikayla Adrienne Smith. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did. You did not see one without seeing the others somewhere near.
Dr. Parker began her professional career in King and Queen County as a Child Development Specialist. She then moved to Prince George's County, Maryland where she taught in the public school system for 18 years as a teacher and guidance counselor. Then God called her to serve as the Principal of Jericho Christian Academy in Landover, Maryland. She was the administrator for 9 years before going to Action Worship Center, in Laurel, Maryland where she served as the Chief of Staff for Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams.
Dr. Joyce Yvonne Parker was very serious about life. She spent her life trying to be a blessing to her family and friends. She tried to build a legacy built upon education first. She exemplified the love of Christ with everyone she came in contact with. Her living truly was not in vain.
