KONJI'S LIFE STORY

Konji Harrison was born on April 12, 1972 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Frances Harrison and the late Jerry Harrison and grew up in Leland and Southport, North Carolina, where his family made their home. He departed this life for eternal life in heaven on February 7, 2010.

 

Konji was baptized and received Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Leland, North Carolina. In his younger years, he enjoyed horse back riding and was a self-proclaimed equestrian. He was a man that truly loved the Lord.

 

He attended Southport Primary School, Southport Middle School, and South Brunswick High School in Southport, North Carolina. He excelled in academics and was a prominent player on his high school basketball team. Konji earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina - Charlotte, where he played rugby, and later moved to Atlanta, Georgia. He became a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. while in college, where he made life-long friends. Konji was actively involved in local community organizations such as Toastmasters International and was the current President of The Voices of Aaron Chapter in Decatur, GA.

 

While in Atlanta, his faith walk continued to blossom as a member of New Hope Christian Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Richard & Synetra Leaphart. He later joined World Changers Church International under the leadership of Pastor Creflo Dollar, Jr. 

 

Konji married his best friend, Darnisha "Nisha" Grant on August 6, 2005 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They immediately settled in Atlanta with their beloved baby girl doggie, Shelby Jane. As a family, he and Nisha enjoyed sharing their mutual love of God and worship, traveling, fine dining, networking, reading, and socializing with their numerous family and friends. They shared a passion for adventure and faced and conquered every challenge together.

 

As a loving and devoted husband, son, in-law, nephew, cousin and friend, Konji lived a joyously full life. His tireless devotion to his mother was sealed by an eternal bond of love, communion and fellowship that only a mother and child can share. 

 

Konji was relentless in his professional pursuits and had a passion for learning and academic excellence. He had an enjoyable time working part-time at Maggiano's restaurant for a short time where he made numerous friends. During his career in sales, marketing, and account management, he was a devoted employee at Hartford Life and Annuity, MDe Software Solutions, Emtec Technologies, Point Clear and Secude IT Security. At the time of his departure, Konji was excited about starting a new position in Business Development at Digital Envoy Solutions in Norcross, Georgia. He was scheduled to begin on Monday, February 8, 2010. 

 

As a prolific poet, writer and profound thinker, Konji has had numerous poems submitted and published in many creative writing journals. He also enjoyed science fiction, public speaking, political commentary, karaoke'ing, cooking, snow skiing, the performing. Konji has also run a marathon and has even gone skydiving! As an avid comic book collector, he has had the privilege of attending the National Comic Book Convention, Comic Con, in San Diego, CA. His all time favorite sports teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Tar Heels

 

Konji was a man who never met a stranger and was truly liked, admired, and respected by everyone he met. He was a vibrant, generous and humble man. His genuine friendship, optimistic personality, and his incredible, enduring smile, enabled him to always find the positive in every situation. 

 

Konji and Nisha's love was sealed by a bond of God's eternal love, understanding and fellowship built on Christian principles. Konji's exact expression of his love for Nisha was: 

"Earlier in life, I could never imagine loving so much and having this amazing love in my heart…For years I have searched. Looking for the right woman to love so unconditionally. Only God could show me that if I love Him so much then He will provide a vessel to show His love. How amazing when I realize that You, Nisha, are the blessing that God has prepared me for." 

 

Rejoicing in the many memories of Konji's remarkable life are his wife Darnisha "Nisha" Grant Harrison; his mother, Frances Harrison; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law; also a God-Son. He also leaves behind many aunts and and a host of other relatives and countless friends.
