I worked with Dr. Soesbe from 1975 to 1998, first as a high school student and then as a hygienist. Dr. Soesbe truly cared about his patients. People knew this and many years later are still asking about him. He was always generous and kind to those who were lucky enough to work with him. I am blessed to have known him professionally and personally. My thoughts and prayers are with Suzette and his family.

I worked for Dr. Soesbe for 11 1/2 years and he was the most kindest, gentle man I ever knew. He cared for everyone, and everyone was so sad when he left sold his practice here in San Antonio. Even when he retired he always kept in touch with Carol and I, and when he would return here we would all go out to lunch. Dr. Soesbe and Suzette always made all of us feel like family. My heart goes out to Suzette and the entire family. Wish I could be there to help. Dr. Soesbe will be greatly missed. Love to Suzette and the family, Judy.

Terry Soesbe was not like any other person I knew. He always had such a wonderful and calming aire about him. He was my dentist when Terry & Suzette lived in San Antonio. He had made me the most beautiful set of dentures. I was young when I lost my teeth and it is hard to have to wear dentures. He sensed how I felt and he went above and beyond to ensure they were perfect. I will miss him but I am trying to find peace knowing I will see him again when I go to be with the Lord. I pray everyday for a speedy recovery for Suzette and that he will help her through this time. I feel blessed to have known Terry. He was a remarkable man.

Terry Soesbe was my friend. I have had the privilege of knowing him from the time I was an intern in 1972. He was a senior resident at the VA hospital, and I came to the hospital as an intern. I was assigned to him, or he was assigned to me. He helped shepherd my earliest attempts at surgical therapy. Terry was just what I needed at the time. He was confident, relaxed, non-pretentious and inspiring. He, through no particular motivation, was willing to do anything to make my life better and provided me with guidance, but more importantly, perspective on never taking yourself so seriously that it changed your judgment. Terry was a uniquely special individual; with characteristics unlike anyone I have ever met in periodontics before or since. I have known many periodontists, and have trained a lot of them over the years, but never have I met anyone with Terry’s demeanor and unique personality. I loved Terry. He provided a clarity of thought that I found uniquely amazing. For the last thirty years, I have traveled with Terry and some other former residents on vacations, a week at a time. We fondly called these ‘The Boys’ trips. Over those years, I had gotten to know Terry better and better, and even though I never really saw him much outside of those yearly retreats, I grew an enormous appreciation for his zeal and enthusiasm for life. Terry was constantly interested and fascinated by aspects of life that some of the rest of us just overlook. His passion showed through in his photography, the way he approached the mountains that we hiked through and his good sense of humor. I fondly recall many campfires and many evenings where he would tell jokes, and sometimes he would get the punch lines at the beginning and yet this would never weaken the strength of the joke. It still provided a wonderful sense of humor and camaraderie because he made his jokes and him come alive. He loved the attention and how it made us all laugh. He was special in that way. He knew how to make us laugh, but he could be so sensitive and understanding.

Terry, it has been a privilege calling you a friend. You will be missed.
You were a wonderfully unique man that is irreplaceable on this earth.
