As so many families are today, ours was a blended, extended family. Bill and Ginnie and Tom and I shared grandchildren Leah and Adrian. We were more than that, though. The four of us were friends, and we enjoyed that so much. Our hearts are with Bill and their blended familiies.

Ginny was a good friend of mine 'way back in the days of Crown Zellerbach in Camas, Washington. I am sorry to learn of her passing, and send my regards and deepest sympathy to Bill and to her family. Hello, Bill!

24 years ago this month, Ginny set up Danalee (my mother) with Joe (her son). They married shortly thereafter, and I have her to thank for the wonderful privilege of growing up with the Buhlers and Schillings as part of my family. I have many fond memories of Ginny; here is one. When I was about 9 years old, Ginny took me to the beach for the weekend. She reserved a room for us at the Sylvia Beach Hotel, a hotel where each room is decorated in the style of a famous author. Ginny must've thought I was quite a sophisticated 9 year old, as she'd reserved the Jane Austin room for us. But, once we got there and took a tour of the hotel, I was more of a fan of the "Dr. Suess" room. Ginny was a good sport, and spent the weekend in a room with rainbow striped wallpaper and red metal bunkbeds. She did, however, insist that I take the top bunk.
